We bought out house last year and have had an electrician in to quote on some work.
He has advised us that we have no earth cable but we would need to speak to our provider for them to arrange? Does anyone have any experience of this or have any idea of the cost?

Alternatively your electrician can install a ground spike to provide the earth - I'm suprised he/she didn;t suggest that. Maybe you were misunderstanding the emplanation?
