New Customer - already have Smart Meter

I've just switched to SP, but already have  Smart Meters that were installed when I was a customer of BG. Although I never managed to use tham to save fuel (warmth, light and hot food are in my view a necessity!) they were good in that I could keep track of how I was doing against my DD! How soon do SP realise I have them, or do I have to contact them in some way!

Hi John. You will have to send meter readings to SP from the BG smart meters. Your in home display will still work normally. At some time in 2019 meters will be upgraded remotely to send data to any supplier.

i had a smart meter fitted by extra energy before they closed,do i have to give meter readings

SP cannot read your EE smart meter, you must send in readings, press 9 on the meters to see the figures. You will get a big bill because it is 7 months since EE closed and you have not paid to SP.
