New customer - can't provide first meter reading

posted by ParksidePeter | A year ago

SP started to take over my supply last week.

My account asks for meter readings but does not accept them.

The meter reading facility does not load when I try to use the ap.

I already have smart meters so this should really be a piece of p***. Why is it so difficult?

Why is the communication so poor?

Hi Peter, you have probably heard that smart meters do not transmit when you change supplier. Telephone your readings to 0800 027 0072.

Re: New customer - can't provide first meter reading
Thanks Davec.
I rang and gave the readings. I was told that sometimes first readings don't go in, which I suspect means that all first readings don't go in as the system can't cope with readings when there aren't any previous readings.
But really SP should email new customers if they want readings. Not leave it to chance that the new customer might look at the website. Then they could have said that the readings should be passed by phone because the website isn't programmed to deal with them.

Re: New customer - can't provide first meter reading
One person reported that new customer first readings need to be telephoned. The online system does not work the first time. If your readings are wrong then telephone in with the correct ones. 0800 027 0072

@phlt  Sorry but we can't  do any thing on your account .You have to keep phoning SP to give your readings. We are only customers like you.

Re: New customer - can't provide first meter reading

I am new customer and have just received my first bill which was estimated. I have received emails from sp to send meter reading but my smart eon meter only has time and date, no meter reading, so how can I send  it. I I going to have estimated bills forever or should I switch back to eon (who might want my meter reading) Ugh!

@chatteris1. You can take a meter reading from the meter on the wall, press its buttons to make it show the reading.

Re: New customer - can't provide first meter reading

Experiancing my issues and reading the previous message on it, gives me the impression that your S/W is NOT well written and NOT tested.

I am a new customer who wants to load-up the meter readings.

I went on-line the day after I started the switch but the system did not allow for the readings to be entered.

I received a letter stating that I need to load-up the meter reading with the next 15 days.

So, for the 2nd time, I went on-line, but again, the system did not allow for the readings to be entered.

So, I called the help-line (at 8:35 am) = Helpline NOT avaliable at this time, use the web-site.
= RUBBISH experiance. Thinking of cancelling the switch.

@chessf  New customers have to phone in their first meter readings ,but due to this virus not enough staff on the lines. So either wait on telephone or you can emailyour readings to Contactus@scottishpower.com. with your readings
