I have recently moveot British Gas ((because I was NOT WILLING to pay SP's ridiculously high standing charge prices) and their call centres are in India,South Africa and England. I have been unfortunate to get the Indian and South African call centres past couple of times I have phoned as regards my switching process and all you get is silence unless they are actually answering a question and they can't get you off the phone quick enough. I've juimped out of frying pan ionti fire as regards customer service. I work for Aviva and we get pulled up for not making conversation with cusomers!!!

As regards leaving Scottish power wehad £42 credit balance, this suddenly dropped to £41.06 on our fib=nalbill amd we got arefund of only£17.26 after getting email from Scottish Power saying we were due £41.06!! I couldn't be bothered waiting an hour on phone tlo argue with them, however after being gtold my smart meters would work (told I had 2nd generation ones).they DON'T, Still working off my SP Tariff!!! Now I need to g through all the hassel of gettng new smart meters fitted.

@Fiona01   We all agree here SP customer service is bad, but your smart meters might work with BG, the display tariff not changing does not mean BG are not getting readings.  It takes a while for the readings to switch over and the display tariff would be at the end of a long line of changes. Even people who have never changed supplier often have the wrong tariff information, it seems to be a weak link in the smart meter system.

Couldn't agree more ..... what customer service?

Can't get through on the phone, chat line staffed by incompetents, no email addresses to send complaints to ...... need I go on?  Absolute bloody shambles. Avoid this crap company like the plague.

I should have taken more time to read up on customer comments before signing up to this shower of s***.  Can't wait 'till my chance comes to change suppliers.

Cannot Find Bills!
Keep getting 'Action Required' emails to submit readings and pay - but can't find amounts used and rates charged.

@Geoffrey   Sign in to your internet account on line, all your bills are there and you can also send in meter readings.  If you can use the Community you can use your internet account.

I've just contacted my old Company SSE. and they said theyve had many of their customers come back to them from Scottish Power..

to anyone reading this - i'm sorry you are with scottishpower. they are **bleep**ing awful. leave them asap. dont' give them any money, complain to the ombudsman as often as you can. they are the most useless **bleep**ing cretins i have ever had to deal with. they are trying to charge me over £400 every 3 months and are ignoring my actual meter readings and chasing me for money. i'm not giving them another dime unless they take me to court. the people running this **bleep**hole of a company should be in **bleep**ing jail, illegal, thieving SCUM.

be amazing if someone censors this and doesn't allow it onto the website. **bleep**ing idiots

@awfulcompany   Send in meter readings more often and you won't get estimated bills.  Good luck with your next supplier but you still have to send meter readings and make sure they have been used on your account, if the numbers you put in are very different to the estimates, you have to give the readings by phone to customer services.

Every month is a surprise with Scottish Power, and the chat line makes it even more interesting. This morning I tried to pay my bill twice, "something went wrong", so I started a conversation to check whether the money had gone through. SIX hours later someone asked me for my name and whether I was the payer. For my sins, yes. After more than another hour someone else started babbling about smart meters and different tariffs, not a mention re my question. I made a third attempt at paying, this time confirmed, and now I'm just waiting for the umpteenth perfectly useless conversation to be closed from their side. Soon I will happily say goodbye to these crooks.
